Public Involvement
Public Involvement is Encouraged
Public involvement and input are essential for the Department of the Air Force’s (DAF’s) development of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) guides the DAF public involvement process.
The NEPA process includes many ways to be involved such as:
-
Attend meetings
-
Review the Draft EIS
-
Submit comments
Public Scoping Period
On July 25, 2025, the DAF announced the intent to prepare an EIS in the Federal Register. This began the public scoping period for the EIS. During the 30-day scoping period, you may provide comments on the DAF’s proposal to beddown two F-35A squadrons at Moody Air Force Base (AFB). Federal, state, and local agencies; organizations, special interest groups; Tribal governments; and individuals are encouraged to submit written comments during the public scoping period to assist the DAF with identifying alternatives and providing information to inform the analyses.
The DAF will accept comments at any time during the Environmental Impact Analysis Process for the proposed F-35A beddown at Moody AFB. However, to ensure the DAF has sufficient time to consider public comments during the preparation of the Draft EIS, please submit comments within the 30-day scoping period (July 25, 2025 to August 24, 2025).

The DAF hosted two virtual public meetings during the scoping period. The meetings were held to inform the public about the Proposed Action and accept questions and comments on the scope of the analysis. Virtual meetings were held as follows:
